Franchise Fine Print is a publication. The articles on this site are free to read. We also sell a paid newsletter and an archive of its back issues, described below. Everything we publish, free or paid, is for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing here should be relied upon for legal, financial, or investment decisions. We are journalists and researchers, not your lawyers or accountants.
The Weekly Teardown subscription
The Weekly Teardown is a paid email newsletter. One franchise brand's disclosure document, taken apart and sent to you each week.
- Price. $79 a year, in US dollars, charged when you subscribe.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically every year. On each anniversary of your purchase, the card you used is charged again for the next year, at the price in effect at that time, until you cancel. We email you a reminder before each renewal charge. It tells you the date, the amount, and how to cancel.
- How to cancel. You can cancel at any time. Email support@byoupublishing.com before your renewal date and you will not be charged again. We confirm every cancellation by email. Clicking unsubscribe in one of our emails stops the emails, but it does not cancel the charge. Use the steps above for that.
- What cancelling does. Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep getting issues until the end of the year you already paid for, and nothing renews after that. Cancelling by itself is not a refund. Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy below.
The back-issue archive
The back-issue archive costs $99 one time, in US dollars. It is not a subscription and it never renews. It unlocks every back issue of The Weekly Teardown, and new issues join the archive after they go out to subscribers. Access is tied to the email address you used at checkout, and we send the access details to that address. The access link is for you alone. Do not share it.
Refunds
Either purchase can be refunded in full within 30 days. The details, and how to ask, are in our Refund Policy.
Checkout
Both purchases are made through ThriveCart, and Authorize.net processes the card. We never see or store your card number. What we do receive about a purchase is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Copyright and quoting
You are welcome to quote our teardowns and articles. Please link back to the original page and attribute the work to Franchise Fine Print. Do not copy entire articles or republish them without permission.
Paid issues and archive files are for your own use. Quote from them the same way, with attribution. Do not forward whole issues, post them online, or share your archive access with others. We may end access for anyone who does.
No warranties
We pull our data from FDDs and public records, but documents contain errors and situations change. We provide this information "as is" without any warranty of accuracy or completeness, and that applies to paid issues as much as free articles. Verify everything yourself.
Limitation of liability
Franchise Fine Print and its publisher shall not be liable for any damages or losses related to your use of this site, our paid products, or any business decisions you make based on our content. If we are ever found liable to you for anything connected to a purchase, the most we owe is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where the publisher is based.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If the subscription price changes, the new price applies from your next renewal, and you will be told before that charge. A year you have already paid for never changes price.
