Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect your email address when you join our free newsletter or buy from us, and your name when you buy. Your email is handled directly by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email provider. We never store your email in our own database.

When you subscribe, we set a small cookie in your browser that holds your subscriber number, not your email, so we can recognize you as a subscriber. If you buy the back-issue archive, the access link we email you sets a similar cookie so the archive page recognizes you as a buyer.

We record anonymous, aggregate analytics events (like page views and form views) to understand what teardowns are popular, but these events contain no personal data.

Payments

If you buy The Weekly Teardown or the back-issue archive, checkout happens on ThriveCart, and Authorize.net processes your card. Your card number goes to them, never to us. We do not see it and we cannot store it.

What we do receive is a purchase record: your name, your email address, what you bought, the amount, and the date. We use it to deliver what you bought, to handle renewals, cancellations, and refunds, and to keep our books.

Your purchase status (for example subscriber, archive buyer, cancelled, or refunded) is stored on your email record in Kit, the same place your free-list subscription lives. That is how the right issues reach you. Our own website database still never stores your email address.

ThriveCart and Authorize.net each have their own privacy policies for the information they handle during checkout.

Optional tools

We use optional measurement tools only when they are enabled: Microsoft Clarity for session analytics to understand how readers navigate the site, and Meta Pixel for ad measurement. These tools run only when we are actively measuring campaigns.

How we protect your inbox

We never sell, rent, or share your email address with franchisors, brokers, or consultants. Ever. That defeats the entire purpose of this site. The same goes for your purchase records.

Your rights

Every email we send contains a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. Unsubscribing stops the emails. It does not cancel a paid subscription or its yearly charge; to do that, follow the steps in our Refund Policy. If you want us to completely delete your record from Kit, reply to any email or write to justin@adskills.com and we will remove you. We keep only the purchase records that tax and accounting rules require.

To see or correct the purchase record we hold for you, email support@byoupublishing.com.
